Tonto National Monument – Cliffdwellers

It was amazing at the top, standing in/on a cliff that people, thousands of years ago, lived in. Even standing there, seeing it for myself, it didn’t seem real.

The path is paved and it is a half mile hike to the top. Well worth the hike up!

This cliff looks like it could crumble at any moment but it’s actually hard as concrete.

Inside the dwellings is surreal. The Rangers are happy to answer any questions and there’s a photo book there that shows some of the history. We spent a very interesting couple of hours here!

The cost would have been $11/each but with Trapper’s Senior Pass it costs us $0! Hooray!
