Our camp hosting officially ended today… Sept 4, 2019. It’s been a great run! We’ve loved this! We love this place and this area for the summer (Well the Yooper Summer)!
We will (if we’re in the area) come back next summer, FOR SURE. It was a great summer place for us!
As most of our family and friends know…. we had NO cell service here with Verizon, we had limited “sketchy internet with Verizon”… we had to drive 10 miles north, out of the Forest, to get cell reception. We did have sewer hook-up but no electric…. so our generator ran A LOT! We were given (per contract) an allowance for fuel and the company filled our propane tank (yep, 100 gallon tank that was 1/2 empty) is now full, as per contract. 🙂
Trapper cleaned lots of vault toilets, we both picked up lots of little trash, I did a lot of manual paperwork, we both witnessed a bit of sketchy activity, called in a few downed trees to the National Park Service (who were quick to respond), recycled a lot of cans totaling $115 (for us – left in the dumpster by campers), we kept a vigilant eye on the campground, kept the crazy to a minimum, enjoyed the lake, witnessed the crazy weather Lake Superior causes as she creates a micro-climate (which was really cool to me)… And our time is done! It’s a sweet good-bye… and good job done! We got asked back for next season! Yay!!!!!
We would love to be here mid July to Labor Day again next year. It really was a great experience! Enjoy the pics…. and the story at the end about sketchy activity…. 🙂
As we close these 6 weeks out…. the sketchy moments….
- Guy shows up looking for girl, to console her… “Her Grandpa died, her dog died, she had called him to come up here to console her…. and he needed to know what camp site she was in… hmmmm..She wasn’t in the park but I wouldn’t “on my life” told him if she were! This literally happened at 11:30 p.m.
- Group of 4 guys show up… their “friend” had reserved the site, but got sick and couldn’t come up… They only set-up one tent! For Four Guys… really??? They only stayed one night but had it reserved for four. Sketchy!!!!!!
- People flat out steal firewood…. crazy to me! (The Forest Service allows you to burn anything on the ground…. do you really need to steal firewood?)
- People that don’t put a date on the site receipt. The camphost monitor the receipt thing posted on the site. People try to be so sneaky and cheap. What the heck…. Note to Campers…. the Camp Host are watching… LOL
