Quartzsite, AZ…. Our 2 weeks here! Pt 1.

We didn’t know what to expect when we arrived and we’re leaving here with a sense of accomplishment and enjoyment.

We planned to stay at La Posa South (the LTVA that charges $40 for 14 nights or $180 for 7 months) – We choose the 14 day stay for ($40 bucks)…. La Posa South is the LTVA with the Dump and Water. However; we learned we could move from LTVA to LTVA if we choose.

For readers unfamiliar… LTVA stands for Long Term Visitor Area. It’s BLM (Bureau of Land Management) Land but there’s a small charge assessed for these particular areas in the Quartzsite area.

The La Posa LTVA includes North, West, South and Tyson Wash areas. You can purchase your passes at any of the La Posa LTVA stations.

Arriving in Quartzsite was fun in itself. We arrived four days before the Big Tent Show started. If you needed service on your RV, a part, a toy, gems, rocks, camera gear, or a job… it was at the Big Tent!

PSA: The dump station line can get very long…. 18 waiting in line this day. When it was time for us to dump and get water we were number 14 and it took us 1 hour and 50 minutes to complete the job.

There are plenty of open, mostly level spots to camp in.

All those white specs in the distance are campers!

And although there are thousands and thousands of people here this week, you can be as close to people or as far away as you want. I never felt cramped.

PRO TIP #1: Bring all your groceries with you for your stay – whether you’re staying a day, a week, or two weeks. There are two small groceries in town and that’s all I could find. The prices were a bit high to me. And there is a Family Dollar and Dollar General in town (which helped out a lot). I was a little unprepared for our two week stay. Oh! And yea, bring your stash of favorite beverages – especially if you drink wine.

Part 2 of this 3 part series will show you some funny things and some other interesting things we did. Stay tuned!
