A Motorcoach vs 5th Wheel? Really? Let’s Discuss Please…

Although we LOVE our 5th Wheel and it is our home… We both know at 55 and 62 years old – those steps are going to be difficult eventually (the steps outside and inside).

So, while we were in Knoxville, TN a few weeks ago, we started toying with the idea of moving to a Motorcoach vs. our 5th Wheel.

As we bee-lined across the USA from Arizona – we ran into a really cool couple, while overnighting (with permission) in a Wal-Mart parking lot, who had a Coach with opposing-slides. I could see it in my husband’s eyes – he was in LOVE!

I knew, after I walked in, we were eventually going to have opposing slides. I could see it in his face. And I have to admit… I kinda liked the extra “wasted” space as well. I call it “wasted” because it’s just big empty space in the middle of the room. But when you live in 240 sq ft – I guess extra room is just that – extra room!

So again, while in Knoxville, TN (back in middle May) we started seriously looking for a Motorcoach that would suit us. My points were the kitchen and his points were the storage underneath and engine and transmission.

We lucked up and found one in Atlanta, GA that we went and scoped out. It’s a 2005 Monaco Windsor with 113,000 miles on a diesel engine. Not bad. Plus it has 1050 watts of solar on top and which was professionally installed – added plus for us! We love boondocking!

Needless to say – we made the short trip to check it out!

And check her out we did! I took a ton of pictures, in my mind placed upgrades in furniture, changed the flooring, changed a few things, placed the kitchen via online pictures, etc. etc. etc.

But, for now, we need to leave Melton Hill Dam (TVA area) and head towards Monroe, NC to my son’s house.

Stay tuned!
