According to the locals (who are local to the area or live here at this Campground year round….) the reason for the water is the storm… Nor’ester “Melissa” pushing water onshore, the unreasonable high tide, and the full moon.
I guess they are right? Who am I to question what’s going on around here other than we need to be here for four more days and don’t want to get stuck! Some rigs have moved to “higher ground” some are staying put. Some are annual sites where the owners could be hours away and their rigs could be sinking – maybe they are used to this? I’m not sure. My only thought was, “I’m new to this!”
Before we go look around at the campground – let’s explore Washington, NC… my daughter went to college at ECU in Greenville, NC so I’m very familiar with the area.
Three years ago I was telling her of our dream to live in an RV… we came to Washington to look at boats at the marina, have lunch, and then return to her apartment. But, we also checked out some RV’s at Crisp RV in Washington, NC. What good times!
I never imagined I’d be back in that same exact spot three years later – living out a dream I’d talked about with her! Sometimes Mothers and Daughters or Sons just need to get away with each other for a reset- reconnect.
For a couple years – years ago … I took both children individually on “Our Weekend trips”…. I hope they remember that like I do. Those were good times!
Meanwhile today … on the docks….
We met a glorious couple boarding their 35′ sail boat that they slip here year round for $269/month. They live in Winston-Salem, NC and consider their boat their “floating condo.” We chatted it up a bit but they had a commitment to fill and we said good-bye!
Arriving back at the campground… we see this!
Let’s go look around.
The water was literally seeping out of the ground. People were leaving and some were just moving spots.
But, the water just kept coming up…. we were ok… but then the rain started…
At this point I’m getting a little preparedness minded…. Water + Electric current … I’m just not sure …. I didn’t sleep much let’s say…. that waterway you see is the road out of here and we’re heavy – we’re very heavy!
What a mess. This did not come through on my phone. Just now saw it on your dad’s.
