Dude Ranch Lakeside Use Area is a gem of a place! We camped here June 23 – June 28, 2021.
NOTE: There is a 14′ 3″ Low Clearance bridge to go under before you can access this area.
Located in Oacoma, SD (just across the river from Chamberlain, SD)…. it’s quite, well spaced out, and clean. This area is also a boat launch/day use area.
What does this spot offer?
- Access to the Missouri River right out your door.
- There are some picnic tables scattered about.
- Vault toilet – which had TP, but you know…. bring your own.
- The road in is well maintained with only a couple hundred feet of washboard, but not like teeth chattering.
- Dogs are welcome.
- Trash dumpster.
- Large rigs fit fine (as long as your not over 14′ tall to get under the bridge) and tent campers are welcome.
- Chamberlain Food Center is a well stocked grocery with all you would need and only 4-5 miles away.
- Verizon cell service was really good. Hot-spotting was no problem for internet.
- Fish cleaning table.
This place (on the map above) comes up on Google Maps easily. And if there isn’t enough room for you at the Dude Ranch, there’s a huge gravel parking lot across from Al’s Oasis as a back up.
This area fit our needs just perfect! Most people were just overnighter’s so a couple of days we had the place to ourselves.
Happy Boondocking!
