As we were headed to Fredericksburg I saw the Lukenbach sign so I knew we had to pass it on the way back to Blanco State Park. I was stoked – again, it was a Bucketlist item!
So we’re on the way back and I see this sign and immediately say “take it” Luckenbach is over there somewhere!
And then I see this sign…
Very nice, I’m getting closer, I’m sure, but where is the city?
We turn on the “loop” road. Now, all parts of Texas have Spurs and Loops – which I’ve yet to understand the difference and I was starting to wonder what Luckenbach held as it only showed a Loop. ????? Self-explanatory maybe? A Loop?
We make a turn at the sign and the whole time I’m saying to Trapper “no, no, no – I think we’re on someones property – isn’t there suppose to be a town?”
Then I saw the parking area and realized this WAS Luckenbach, TX!!!!!
Yep – this is Luckenbach, TX (all I could hear in my head was Waylon Jenning’s voice signing, “Let’s go to Luckenbach, Tx”)
Welcome to Luckenbach, TX y’all. Enjoy the pictures!
It was clear that Luckenbach was a thing. It was a feeling, an experience, a bucketlist checked off. (Now for the curious…. they do have live bands here, events, you can get married here, you can camp here, etc.) I’m sure in Spring and Fall it’s a happening place, but for us – we liked it like we found it – few people and time to roam around.
Where to next? The Alamao and to return the Generator!
