Seminole Canyon State Park

While we were at the Ranger’s Station, at Amistad National Rec Area, he suggested we stop and eat at J & P’s Bar & Grill in Comstock. Well, turns out – it’s the only place in Comstock to eat and OH WOW was it good! So, if you find yourself in Comstock, TX check it out – here’s a link to their FB page (J & P’s Bar & Grill). The place has been on TV, voted #1 in several restaurant magazines, and is internet famous as well. You never know what you’ll find in the desert.

Hwy 90., Comstock, TX

We arrived at Seminole Canyon too late for the guided pictograph hike so we choose to hike the canyon rim. I never thought hiking would be added to my repertoire but I’m getting used to it! Plus, once you get off the beaten path – this country has such beauty to offer.

There is a lot to do here and if you’re interested here’s the link for Seminole Canyon State Park.

We decided to drive 90W to see if we could find a free overnight camping spot we’d heard of. If you’re on 90W – just before the Peco’s River – turn left and viola!

One of my favorite pictures I’ve ever taken.

No signs saying overnight parking isn’t allowed and we’ve read a lot of reviews of folks who’ve stayed here for a quick overnight stop. Nice picnic shelters and look at the view!

Our truck did fine on the trip today, so hopefully the issue is resolved. We had no cell service (Verizon) the majority of this 100 mile day trip, so having the truck perform correctly was paramount! How ya gonna call someone when you have no way to call someone?
