We left our $2/night spot at San Pedro Campground and headed toward Big Bend.
We stopped in Langtry, TX, population 12, and former home to Judge Roy Bean. Never heard of him? I hadn’t either but there’s a little museum about him. He actually had a pretty interesting life. He was actually hanged at one time but didn’t die. Hmmm…. here’s a link if you’re interested. Judge Roy Bean.
The lady at the Visitor’s Center was super helpful and gave us all kinds of info on Big Bend. She also gave us camping options in case the National Park Campgrounds were full. This came in handy!
And that’s all there was to Langtry, TX. However, we get to see our first Expedition vehicle that a German couple had shipped over from Germany to travel the US in! Exciting!
Next we stop in Marathon, TX for fuel and a potty break. I actually had internet service in this town so I downloaded a guide and because I had cell service – I sent text saying where we were and we’d be out of service for 4-5 days. Verizon has zero service once you get out of this town.
We turned left on 385 and made our way south to Big Bend.
Gorgeous scenery, but if you need fuel or snacks, like I’ve said, do it in Marathon.
Let’s get on to Big Bend National Park!
