Wickenburg, AZ – Hello Again & Travel Day mishaps!

We visited here 10 months ago and actually kinda love this place. Why? I don’t really know. It’s a feel we have here. It’s the beauty of the mountains and the quietness of our boondocking area.

I sleep well here. I wake up well here. And this year Verizon has stepped up their game and the internet service is stellar! Look at these speeds! Faster than when we owned a home and were hard-wired in! Thank you Verizon!

I know Trapper loves it because it’s the Team Roping Capital and Prescott has the Rodeo’s.

The 200+ mile trip here from Benson, AZ was a day of Rookie (Newbie) mistakes…. I forgot to check the fridge doors, the door between the bedroom and bath, and the sliding cabinet/pantry. Good Gracious, we had crap falling/sliding open everywhere.

We’ve moved hundreds of times, at this point, and sometimes you just get too comfortable. We had a long travel day of only 200+ miles. If Google Maps tells you 4 hours – you on should bet on 8 hrs in an RV.

Our fridge doors are held closed by a simple Velcro Strip, for travel. But it’s gotten old and it’s loosing it’s grip. We hit the first rut into our Boondocking location and stuff starts falling out of the doors swinging open. I’m saying, “Stop, Stop… Stop NOW!” On the brakes go! Oh lord, I was glad I was still seat-belted in… I was witnessing stuff falling and sliding open and I just needed to get back there!

The very first and only jolt had simply popped the velcro strip loose and the suction on the doors. There was stuff everywhere – on the floor. Luckily nothing broke (as in glass containers) but everything was jolted forward and some downward (as-in-on-the-floor!)

Then we ran into our second issue…. Where to Park? This tends to be a theme with us. Scroll back up and you’ll see a burm to the left of the rig in the picture. There is a low spot, but not much lower and Trapper wanted to try to take us over it. Me…. no, let’s be happy with this level-ish spot here. Another hour spent deciding on a spot for only three nights. LOL Just pick a spot and I’ll level us up! PLEASE! JUST PICK A SPOT! lol

Travel Day Tips: Check behind each other. Secure all cabinets. Secure Doors. Secure and lock all Bay Doors, underneath!

I was just glad to be back in familiar territory and calling it a night. This was just a tough travel day for us. Most of them go smoothly but today was just abnormal. 🙂 It’s bound to happen.

We have since bought new Velcro Strips for the fridge and reminded ourselves we need to check behind the other one.
